My bio:
Zoe Chilco is a Toronto native, writing,
recording and performing her own originals and standards in the city, and
Ontario.
She
has nine self-produced CDs of original compositions in the jazz and blues
genres; a finalist in the UK Songwriting Competition for jazz in 2002; a blues
tune the listeners' choice in Germany.
Zoe has received received world-wide accolades and airplay for the CD
“Up the Highway” (2005); her song “Rats and Welfare” has been set to animation
(youtube) and was shown at the “Planet in Focus” Film Festival. She wrote and performed her song “Hi F-Eye”
at the Female Eye Film Festival in Toronto in 2006; wrote, narrated and sang
“Zootcase”, her theatre/tribute to Zoot Sims which toured in Ontario In 2010
- (zootcase2010.blogspot.com and
youtube: Zoe Chilco and Zootcase); and currently three of her songs are
listed and mapped at listentotrack.ca/songs, a
website developed for compositions celebrating different places in the city.
Zoe
performs with both jazz and blues bands, most notably at Hugh's Room, Toronto,
2002, 2010, and the summer of 2015; The Old Mill's Home Smith Bar in Toronto
(annually since 2010), The Nice Bistro French Restaurant in Whitby, ON, also
annually; From 2001 to 2013 at Gate 403, Toronto; The Black Swan Tavern, The
Free Times Cafe, Chicago's, The Emmet Ray, Dora Keogh's; private functions;
plus various locations in Haliburton; including a jazz show, 2004-2009, a blues
party 2011-2014; and in 2014, Rhubarb Restaurant; Haliburton Arts &
Crafts; and two Township of Minden
